Well, it's been an expensive couple of weeks for yours truly thanks to new cage purchases. As I mentioned in last week's newsletter, Headzone Defense had re-opened sales in another beta wave of its Titanium Grip cage. I've been a fan of HZD's shaft-only Grip cage since day one, having purchased three separate nylon Grip cages since they launched.
What I've found -- and in exploring community feedback, it seems like I'm in the minority in this opinion -- is that when it comes to shaft-only cages, I prefer a longer length. Most of the cages I see in the HZD and shaftonly subreddits are fairly short, extending only a little bit behind the glans ring.
The first Grip I ordered was like this, but I wanted to go longer for a couple reasons: 1.) In my opinion, the Grip becomes less secure the closer the glans ring is to the end of the cage, as it becomes easier to reach with a finger, butter knife, or other object, 2.) I want the cage to cover as much of the most sensitive parts of my penis as possible. I'm not sure if I could have successfully came in my first, shorter cage, but it definitely would have been more possible than it is now.
My current Grip cage extends to cover about 75% of my flaccid length, and it is tight. Even slipping a butter knife through the tube to reach the glans ring would be very challenging, if not impossible. Note: in order to support a longer shaft-only length, it is crucial that your glans ring is TIGHT. Not tight enough to cause pain or cut off circulation, but TIGHT...tight enough that you need to use both hands to remove it. When I first tried my current length with a looser (but still tight) glans ring, my cage came very close to falling off during one of my morning runs.
Why Order the Titanium Grip?
Of the three Grip cages I have ordered to-date, one broke apart, but the other two are still intact. So if I already have two functional nylon Grip cages, why did I spend $502 on the Titanium Grip? Wearing a titanium cage changes my mindset when I am locked in one. I really don't know that I could pull out of my current nylon Grip cage without tearing my dick up, but the cage is made out of nylon and I know in the back of my mind that I can simply break it apart to get out in a worst-case scenario.
Not so with a titanium cage. With the Titanium Grip, I will be locked in a cage that I can't pull out of, and can't break, at least not without serious tools or professional assistance. That's kind of a mindfuck, but I love it.
Newbie-Sub's The Arbor
Newbie-sub is a moderator of the r/chastitytraining Subreddit, and a well-known member of the chastity community. He has been honing his 3D printing skills recently and on Tuesday of this week, he announced he is launching his first original cage design, the Arbor.
In the announcement email, Newbie-Sub mentioned he would be making only three cages available in the first round of sales, so I pounced right away and was able to grab one of the spots. The ordering process has been collaborative -- Newbie-Sub collected all of my individual measurements, including the ball gap, and provided me with a 3D render showing exactly what my personalized cage will look like. The Arbor set me back $130 after I applied the $40 off launch coupon. So in total, I am $632 poorer over the past couple of weeks and anxiously awaiting shipping notifications for both of these cages. It's an expensive hobby we have, and sometimes curating ChasteGPT's weekly list of new products can be both a blessing and a curse for me (a curse because I find all these great cages I want to try)!
