Comfort
The BA-01 is quite comfortable. Over the years, I’ve gone through many cages and have dialed in my sizing as accurately as possible; when sized correctly, this unit is excellent. I use a barrel-type lock, and because the cage is crafted so well, there is no wobbling between the base ring and the cage. Once the lock is inserted, the fit is rigid. In the year and a half that I have owned it, there has been zero rusting, and the welds are perfectly smooth with no sharp edges.
The cage has the weight you’d expect from a metal piece. To manage this, I’ve created a custom belt using metal collars over the braces next to the lock, which attaches to a heat-shrink-wrapped braided steel cable around the waist. This takes the weight off the cage itself and eliminates any drag. Prospective owners should note that if you don’t support the cage in some way, the weight may eventually become an issue. That said, even during sleep, the fit remains secure and comfortable
Security
The security of any ball-trap device is inherently limited. There is almost always the ability to physically maneuver the cage off, which is a design reality for this style of device. Unless you utilize a Prince Albert piercing with a dedicated lock, achieving 100% security is difficult.
Realistically, the security is often in the mind of the wearer. However, my custom belt method essentially transforms the cage into a full-locking harness. This makes the setup nearly as secure as a piercing-based lock, though it’s worth noting that this level of security comes from my modification rather than the cage alone
Hygiene/Cleaning
The BA-01 features a bar design, making it very straightforward to maintain. Soap and water are all that’s needed for a thorough cleaning, and because of the open structure, it’s fairly easy to clean even while still wearing it
